A Different Strength

The idea behind MSM is to create an outlet to inspire strength, physically, mentally, emotionally, and lastly, spiritually. Ever since I can remember I’ve always had the notion of asking “WHY”, and this naturally led to my belief systems…

Finding strength is necessary not only through the physical sense, the flesh and blood, but also spiritually. You may find strength through reading The Bible, through praying to your own God, or believing in reincarnation and karma. Whatever the case may be, it is important that you believe in something. That old cliche of a saying, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” has a kernel of truth to it, because if you don’t have a strong belief system, you may fall for any and ALL ways, which to me means you have no spine.

So how can we translate this from religion and beliefs to physical strength? Jumping from program to program is one physical example, as you’ll never progress in anything necessarily. Sure, you’ll be average at all things, but overall you’ll never master anything, nor have the discipline to have understood how hard work and determination can benefit you.

Also, another example is following certain fitness “gurus” on the internet. But even then these “gurus” have their own set of mentors that they follow, and are probably all inclined to talk to one another through a very great and deep mastermind circle. Choose one or two people to follow if you aren’t quite at a stage of mastery yet, and begin from there. Don’t follow every person’s words of wisdom, because it’ll be like deciphering the DaVinci Code when it comes to learning to squat – back squat? front squat? goblet squat? single leg squat? RFESS? Everyone has an opinion, choose the belief system that best aligns with your own and you’ll go far.

Essentially, go out of your own circle and try to determine what it is that is holding you back from increasing your strength, both inner and outer strength. As someone who is primarily devoted to an evidence-based approach to all things in life, it took me several years (note: my whole life) to understand that there are just some things that are out of your control, and to realize that there is indeed a higher power at play here. I tried to fight it, controlling every aspect of my life, but that just created more stress, higher anxiety levels throughout my day, and it overall broke me down. Right now, I’m looking for the strength to acknowledge that sometimes, things won’t go the way you planned. But when opportunities present themselves, the universe will let you know when it is ready for you. It is up to you to realize this.
